YOU OPENED THE KEY TO MY HEART

I remember the first day we met just like it was yesterday

My heart was so guarded then

Afraid of being hurt yet another time

Extremely cautious of not letting  anyone get to close to me as I always end up losing a friend

But you, you were… relentless in your pursuit of me

but patiently waited until  I was complete- Emotionally

You opened the key to my heart….

I remember our first date at the coffee shop..(giggles)

Just a short distance from here

We sat there sipping on Mocha Latte Frappucinos

While,  Laughing our asses off  at the “SILLIEST”  “MOST INSIGNIFICANT”   things

I remember how we even cried right there, together

sharing life’s joys and pains,

successes and failures,

 victories and defeats

I could feel your heart communicating with mine

Never-Judging

or looking down on me  for making  foolish mistakes in my past,

that’s now in the past

You opened the key to my heart….

When I am walking around the house with no make up on

in jeans, sweats and a t-shirt  looking real average

you never fail to remind me of  just how beautiful and lucky you are to have me and I vice versa

The spontaneous “I love you’s” and

smiley face text msgs or the-

“I’m just calling to check in” or

“just thinking about  you” phone calls

are all  confirmations of  how much you care about my feelings

While respecting my emotional character and vibrations as a woman

You opened the key to my heart….

For all the times you rubbed my feet (with the aloe vera and shea butter mixture) after an exhausting day of  work

Prepared me a home cooked meal

served with  a glass of my favorite wine

along with A fresh bouquet of my favorite flowers , candles and gourmet chocolates 

arranged about the room 

reassures me that I am your queen

Listening to my overly hypersensitive emotional babble

even during that time of the month,

Careful,  Not to make comments about  the gossip surrounding my coworkers

Instead- grabbing my hands to speak a word of  fervent prayer

EVEN- when you KNOW,  they have WRONGED ME !

It is  your ability to always see the good in people,

while finding the positives in a negative

are the reasons why
our Love has withstood the test of time
